The IBM Sustainability Accelerator program is designed to support organizations working on environmental sustainability projects by providing them with advanced technology, expertise, and financial resources. Net Zero Atlantic has been selected to receive this grant. The project began in early October 2022 and will end by October 2024.
Objectives
IBM will deliver a technical roadmap and visualization tools, while the NZA will participate in project planning, engage with Indigenous organizations, and provide quarterly impact reports.
The primary beneficiaries of the IBM Sustainability Accelerator grant are the Mi'kmaw First Nations in Unama’ki (Cape Breton, Nova Scotia). This project will provide them with advanced energy system modeling capabilities. The initiative aims to empower these communities by offering tools and resources typically available only to specialized stakeholders
Outcome
Interactive digital tool that will geospatially display environmental and socioeconomic impacts of possible energy system futures, called the ACES Lite Dashboard.
