Subsurface Energy Storage

The project will explore the potential for subsurface energy storage in Nova Scotia. This project addresses the lack of detailed information regarding the geological characteristics and locations of potential storage sites for transitional energy sources such as hydrogen, compressed air, natural gas, and CO2.

Objectives

The objectives are to (1) gather and synthesize geological data, (2) conduct a comparative analysis with global analogues, and (3) perform a gap analysis to provide strategic recommendations.

Outcomes

The project includes developing a Nova Scotia Energy Storage Atlas and a Subsurface Energy Storage Gap Analysis and Roadmap. These initiatives are intended to support Nova Scotia's energy policy objectives related to climate change, economic growth, and sustainable development.

Support for this project

To be announced.
