Shaping Offshore Wind R&D Planning for Nova Scotia
The Offshore Wind R&D Priorities Roadmap report consolidates the research and development priorities identified during the Offshore Wind R&D Roundtable, hosted by Net Zero Atlantic in partnership with the Nova Scotia Department of Energy on June 9, 2025. The roundtable convened 63 representatives from academia, research organizations, provincial and federal governments, Indigenous organizations, offshore wind developers, industry associations, fisheries, and community stakeholders.
The report identifies 22 R&D priorities and maps them across an offshore wind development timeline. It highlights priority research themes and areas of focus to support informed decision-making, coordinated innovation planning, and strategic investment. The roadmap is intended to help align resources, reduce duplication, address critical knowledge gaps, and support the responsible development of Nova Scotia’s offshore wind sector.
About the Nova Scotia Offshore Wind R&D Program
Advancing sustainable and inclusive offshore wind development in Nova Scotia requires a strategic and coordinated research and development (R&D) approach. In response, Net Zero Atlantic has created the Nova Scotia Offshore Wind R&D Program. The program is designed to convene knowledge, lay the foundation for high-impact research, and ensure accountability through sustained collaboration and strategic investment.
